David Bagley, Chief Executive Officer
David Bagley has 20 years experience in enterprise software. Prior to founding Enstratius™ with George Reese, David worked with George at Valtira, serving as CEO. Previous experience includes roles as Chief Operating Officer of Optimi, a leader in 3G optimization software for the wireless industry and five years as Chief Strategy Officer for Retek, now Oracle Retail. David began his career with 8 years at Andersen Consulting and holds an MA from Oxford University in England.
George Reese, Chief Technology Officer
George Reese, co-founder, has been delivering software as a service since 2003 when he founded Valtira, a suite of web-based marketing tools. Prior to Valtira, George held a variety of technology leadership roles with J. Walter Thompson, Carlson Marketing Group as well as startups like Ancept and Imaginet. George is the author of several O'Reilly books on Internet and enterprise technologies, including Java Database Best Practices and Managing and Using MySQL and the recently released Cloud Application Architectures. George has an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a B.A. in Philosophy from Bates College in Lewiston, ME.
George Hadjiyanis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing
George Hadjiyanis has over fifteen years of leadership experience in Marketing, Product Management and Sales Operations for Managed IT Services firms. For hosting service provider Agiliti, George was vice president of Marketing during which the firm grew revenues by 300% over 3 years leading to its eventual acquisition by SunGard. Prior to Agiliti, George led Product Management for data archiving solutions at WAM!NET where he secured Fortune 1000 customers and led the M&A activity for a division of EDS. George has also held the role as vice president of Marketing and Sales Operations for Zomax, a provider of software supply chain services. George holds an MBA in Strategic Management and International Marketing from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota.
James Urquhart, Vice President of Product Strategy
James is a seasoned field technologist with 20 years of experience in service-oriented architectures, cloud computing, and virtualization. James has been noted as one of the ten most influential people in cloud computing by both the MIT Technology Review and The Next Web. Prior to joining Enstratius, Mr. Urquhart held leadership roles at Cisco Systems, Forte Software, and Sun Microsystems. James is a popular contributing author to GigaOm and graduated from Macalester College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Physics.
John Willis, Vice President of Client Service and Enablement
John Willis has worked in the IT management industry for more than 30 years. Prior to joining Enstratius, Willis was the VP of Solutions for DTO Solutions where he led the transition to a new suite of automated infrastructure and DevOps solutions. Prior to DTO Solutions. Willis was the VP of Training & Services at Opscode where he formalized the training, evangelism, and professional services functions at the firm. Willis also founded Gulf Breeze Software, an award winning IBM business partner, which specializes in deploying Tivoli technology for the enterprise. Willis has authored six IBM Redbooks for IBM on enterprise systems management and was the founder and chief architect at Chain Bridge Systems.
Bernard Golden, Vice President of Enterprise Solutions
Bernard Golden has vast experience working with CIOs to incorporate new IT technologies and meet their business goals. Prior to joining Enstratius, Bernard was CEO of HyperStratus, a Silicon Valley cloud computing consultancy that focuses on application security, system architecture and design, TCO analysis, and project implementation. Bernard is also the Cloud Computing Advisor for CIO Magazine and was named a "Top 50 Cloud Computing Blog" by Sys-Con Media. Bernard's writings on cloud computing have been published by The New York Times and the Harvard Business Review and he is the author of Virtualization for Dummies and co-author of Creating the Infrastructure for Cloud Computing. Bernard has an MBA in Business and Finance from the University of California, Berkeley.
Stacey Roelofs, Vice President of Operations
Stacey Roelofs is an experienced strategic and operational leader within the information technology industry. She has twenty years of of experience in interactive marketing, web development, operations and account management. Prior to joining Enstratius, Stacey developed her leadership skills from Target Corporation, J. Walter Thompson, and Thomson West. Stacey is a licensed attorney, who received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law and her B.A. in Spanish and English from the University of Minnesota.
Jeff Hoffman, Vice President of Engineering
Jeff Hoffman has led technical teams for over 15 years, with hands-on development work accounting for an additional decade. A veteran of several start-up endeavors, Jeff has additional background in architecting dynamic software solutions for the marketing and advertising space, which is what initially sparked his interest in cloud computing. Working for companies such as JWT and Carmichael Lynch, he introduced efforts to make better use of cloud infrastructure (well ahead of the IT curve) for clients all over the world. Before that, throughout the heady early days of J2EE in the late 90s, Jeff traveled the US as a corporate trainer, retooling COBOL dev teams into Java development shops. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Computer Systems from Bradley University.
David Mortman, Chief Security Architect
David Mortman has been doing Information Security for well over 15 years. Most recently, he was the Director of Security and Operations at C3. Previously, David was the CISO at Siebel Systems and the Manager of Global Security at Network Associates. David speaks regularly at Blackhat, Defcon, RSA and other conferences. Additionally, he blogs at emergentchaos.com, newschoolsecurity.com and securosis.com. David sits on a variety of advisory boards, including Qualys and Virtuosi. David holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Chicago.
Simon Wardley, Advisory Board Member
Simon Wardley is a researcher for CSC's Leading Edge Forum, a former Cloud Strategist at Canonical and was the head of a Canon Inc subsidiary that launched one of the world's first Platform as a Service environments in 2006. He is also an international speaker on the commoditization of IT, utility computing, fabrication technologies and the open source movement. Mr. Wardley is a proven technology executive with 14 years of solid experience including creating and executing business and IT strategy within start-ups and multi-nationals.
Gregory A. Effertz, Advisory Board Member
Greg Effertz has more than 20 years of experience in financial leadership positions, including 15+ years in various senior roles at public companies. He has twice led a company through a successful IPO process. Greg is currently President and COO at Verisae, a leading provider of Sustainability Resource Planning ("SRP"); a web-based platform that enables a distributed enterprise to actively manage energy, environmental compliance, and asset lifecycle costs. Greg previously served as CFO and Executive Vice President for Minneapolis-based Retek Inc from 1997 through 2005. In 2005 Greg led the sale of Retek to Oracle Corporation for approximately $630 million. Greg is a CPA and holds a BA in Accounting and Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin.
Thomas F. Carretta, Advisory Board Member
Tom Carretta has more than 20 years of experience in legal leadership positions. He currently serves as Vice President, legal and Associate General Counsel for Fair Isaac Coporation, a enterprise level publicly held software, analytics and services company serving the global financial services, and related markets. Prior to his position at Fair Isaac, from December 2000 to June 2005 he served as General Counsel and Secretary for Retek Inc., a publicly held software and services company serving tier 1 retailers. From May 1998 to December 2000 he served as General Counsel and Secretary for Firepond, Inc., a public business rules software tool company. Before joining FirePond, from 1988 to 1998, Mr. Carretta was General Counsel and Secretary for Control Systems, Inc. and affiliated companies which provide PC network and graphics hardware and software.
